Agua Boa Amazon Lodge
Formerly known as the Royal Amazon Lodge, the Agua Boa Amazon Lodge is located on a small clear water tributary of the Amazon perfectly suited for sight fishing for all three species of peacock bass, arowana, pacu and other Amazon gamefish. The river is flanked by Varzea flood forest and Gallery forests still in pristine shape. The crowns of many of the hardwood trees in the Gallery forest reach heights of 200 feet and all of the species are still present. It is not uncommon to find beaches filled with the tracks of the endangered Amazon River turtles, tapir and even jaguar. Nothing could be more spectacular for an angler than the return ride to the lodge after a great day of fishing through meandering bends of this great watershed as the forest comes to life each evening.

The Fishing
Clients will fish two to a boat. The guides have been trained extensively and have many years of experience guiding for peacock bass. They are not bilingual but are somewhat conversant in fishing English and will understand your needs. After breakfast you are welcome to fish with your guide until 6:00 pm.Accommodations
The lodge is a spacious facility with a large dining room, a living room, bar and game room. Clients stay in well furnished air-conditioned bungalows complete with a large three piece washroom that has hot and cold running water. Outside there is a 20-meter swimming pool, bar area, volleyball court, and soccer field.

Gear
Two or three 8/9 weight rods are recommended for peacock bass. We suggest a large arbor reel with a great drag for your reel. Tropical lines work best in the heat. We recommend the Rio Outbound Floating, Rio Tropical F/I and an Intermediate Line 10 or 15 feet clear tip. Bring tippet between .022 and .027 30-40 lbs of hard mono and 200 or 300 grain sink tip.Why Agua Boa Amazon Lodge
The rivers and tributaries around the Royal Amazon Lodge are rich and diverse. Possible species include the three species of peacocks: the butterfly (up to 10 pounds), the paca or spotted (up to 20 pounds), and the temensis (up to 24 pounds). Peacock Bass are perhaps one of the toughest gamefish around. Their topwater strike is often so ferocious that the entire fish will fly several feet of the water with the fly. Once hooked peacocks exhibit a savvy toughness unknown to trout and largemouth fisherman.Itinerary in brief
Arrival
The charter for the lodge departs at 6 am. on Saturday morning. You will be met at your hotel at 5 am. and then transferred to the airport to meet the charter. The flight is 1.5 hours long and you should arrive at the lodge at 8:30 am.Sunday - Friday
Six days of fishing river channels, inland lakes and lagoons. Lunch on the river or at the lodge. Arrive back at the lodge for a relaxing Caipirinha followed by an evening meal.Departure
Saturday morning breakfast at the lodge. Depart lodge by private charter for Manaus at 9:00 am. The charter will arrive around 11 am. into Manaus. Ray Santos will take you to the international terminal or to your hotel in Manaus. He'll have your itinerary information.
